By all accounts, we had a great Halloween. Sophia says today was "yummy!"
I made Toasted Pumpkin Seeds this morning. As they were baking, the smell through the house was fabulous! I had not used this method of boiling the seeds in salt water before. They turned out great!
Sophia and Madeline had a blast at school today, and they were totally thrilled with their costumes. I think they turned out pretty well too. I'm glad I went to see the costume parade at school for the first time this year.
We enjoyed visiting Neil's grandma at her retirement residence after school today. I think she (and some other residents) were quite delighted to see the little ones in costume. I also got some good photos of our girls and their cousin on Grandma Louise's balcony.
What awesome weather for trick or treating! No snow on the ground and it was 8 or 9 degrees C this evening. There was a cool breeze but not too bad at all. Really couldn't ask for a better night.
It was fun to go trick or treating with friends in our neighbourhood. We went together last year too. Their girls are close in age to our girls and we have known each other for several years.
The girls had a huge haul of candy this year -- an awful lot for three little girls. Their bags were so heavy I had to weigh them. Sophia and Madeline's together were 11 pounds! I didn't have Georgia's stuff in a bag at that point, but I estimate another two or three pounds. Crazy!
After we sorted everything, I let the girls have their fill of treats tonight. I always do that; I just want the stuff GONE. They loved every minute of it, of course! For the remainder, they have decided they want to ration it out with up to four treats a day (per person) this year. We'll see how that goes.
The girls received a few different things in their treat bags this year: several frozen freezies (yes, frozen!), full-size bags of microwave popcorn, juice bags, and granola bars. No wonder their bags were heavy!
Well, I have let the girls stay up late tonight, but now I'm off to read them bedtime stories. I'll share more photos this weekend.
