It sounds like Sophia was just fine at preschool yesterday. Neil came into the city to go to the ultrasound with me, so he and I and Laurel were all at the school to see Sophia into her first class. I think that was encouraging for her. Sophia was very proud of her new pink Scooby Doo backpack, Barbie shoes, and snack bag (filled with the snack she requested), all purchased especially for preschool.
Neil and I had to go to our ultrasound appointment right away, but Laurel stayed with Sophia for a whole hour--thank you Laurel! I know that made a big difference. Laurel reported that Sophia clung to her for the first 10 minutes or so, then would go and participate in things but still wanted her right beside her for the next half hour, and then became comfortable enough to do things on her own. She also said Sophia was very happy because she got to ring the tambourine for something. When I picked Sophia up, the teacher said everything was fine now, and Sophia had even started talking to her. (On Thursday evening when we were there for the annual meeting, Sophia wouldn't even look at the teacher.) I asked Sophia what they did at school and she listed all kinds of fun things--painting, playdoh, dress-up... She was happy! I don't think she'll say she doesn't want to go again.
(I didn't want Sophia to wear navy tights with this outfit, but it certainly wasn't worth arguing over!)
