I'll start off by saying that I'm very relieved that my renal ultrasound revealed no problems. No, extremely relieved. (I was fretting a bit, especially today before my appointment.) Also, as I mentioned last week, my urinalysis was normal. My doctor said today that there was no blood or protein, and creatinine was normal, which is good. (I think she said it was 93; note: the UA was a spot test, not 24-hour.)
Of course, there is still the mystery of my consistently low eGFR of 58 (twice in three months). The threshold for investigation is <60, but it should really be closer to 90 or more. My doctor does not think any further action is required after seeing a normal UA and ultrasound, but she's still going to send my results to a nephrologist for a second opinion.
So, at this point, there's nothing else to do but STOP worrying about it. And I seriously need to do that or else I'm going to need therapy!
I had never really thought about my kidneys before this, but I will certainly not take them for granted from now on. As my doctor said today, they're pretty important.
